>>How do I book rental items?
Bookings can be made easily on the website, we can not reserve rental items over the phone. Bookings should be made at least 3 days in advance; this allows us to transfer rental items as needed to make sure we have exactly what you need. If you have any questions or inquiries please contact us at info@thebaseyukon.com we will get back to you as soon as possible.
>>How do I make a payment?
You can complete payment online on the website. Payment can be made with credit card. We use Stripe payment system, which is a secured service. You can read more about their security information here.
>>Do you require damage deposit?
Yes, a refundable Damage Deposit of 30% of your full rental amount is required to hold the booking, which will be automatically added for rental items at checkout. Once the rental equipment has been returned and is determined to be in good condition, the Damage Deposit will be returned 1-4 weeks following rental return via credit card you have used to make the payment. >>How does your delivery service work?
We deliver and pick up our rental packages to/from major hotels (excluding B&Bs and Air BnBs for security reasons) in downtown Whitehorse, Yukon at free of charge. Your package will be delivered to your accommodation by 3PM on your first day of the rental period. Please ask for your package upon check-in at the front desk.
We also deliver and pick up our packages to/from Whitehorse International Airport for CAD15/person on your arrival/departure day. For the Airport delivery, one of our staff will see you at the Airport around the baggage claim area upon your arrival. Please look for the sign: "WINTER CLOTHING RENTAL"
Since we do NOT deliver items to B&Bs and Air BnBs for security reasons, please choose our Airport Delivery service if you are staying at one of the B&Bs/Air BnBs.
>>How does bear spray rental work?
We scale the weight of each rental bear spray once it is returned to us to make sure it is used or unused (the weight of each bear spray before renting out is labeled at the bottom of each spray). If it is used, we will charge the difference between the rental fee that you paid and the retail cost of bear spray (CAD 50).
>>Do you rent camping cutlery?
We don’t rent camping cutlery for hygienic reasons, however, we do have camping cutlery for purchase. Rental cookware and utensils are included in Camping All-Inclusive package.
>>Do you rent hiking boots / clothing?
At this time, we don’t.
>>Is winter clothing rental package good for extreme cold weather?
Yes it is. Our winter clothing rental package comes with everything you need for the Yukon's winter activities such as Northern Lights viewing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, icefishing etc. basically under any weather in the Yukon.
Our rental down jackets and down pants are equipped with features required for the extreme environments of arctic weather with 800 fill power EX down. For rental boots, we use the one from Sorel (or similar model) that have equipped with Omni-heat reflective lining and vulcanized rubber shell. Feature: Fully waterproof, rated at -40° Fahrenheit / -40° Celsius.
We still recommend that you bring layers of clothing (fleece jacket, sweatpants or tights, liner gloves, and warm socks etc) that you can wear under the rental clothes - layering is the key to keep you warm!
>>Can I change the size of my rental items?
You can change the size of rental items once at no additional cost upon request if items are available for you. Please contact us to see the availability.
>>Do you rent kids clothes?
At this time, we don’t. As our smallest size is Small for jacket and pants, and Women’s US 6 (23 cm) for winter boots, they might fit children in their teens. If you are not sure whether our rental clothing will fit your child/children or not, please contact us at info@thebaseyukon.com with their measurements (weight & height).
>>Do you rent individual winter clothing items?
No we don’t, we only have 5 pieces complete package that comes with a down jacket, down pants, snow boots, gloves and beanie.
How are you addressing COVID-19 in your cleaning process
The following are measures we take for our items.
・Each single item is inspected and completely sanitized using a disinfectant spray approved by Health Canada once it is returned to us
